A recipe similar to sushi by Hae

Ingredients

  • Minced beef
  • Sushi rice
  • Seaweed sheets
  • Carrot
  • Egg
  • Cucumber
  • Seafood sticks
  • Spinach
  • Soy sauce
  • Sugar
  • Garlic
  • Sesame oil
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • Apple cider

You will also need a Sushi mat for rolling the sushi

Method

  1. Cook sushi rice as per instructions on packet.
  2. Fry off the minced beef in a pan with some soy sauce, garlic and sesame oil.
  3. Finely slice the carrot and fry in a little oil until just starting to go soft. Add a little salt when done.
  4. Remove the skin of the cucumber and the seeds. Cut into strips the same length as the seaweed. Pour over a little water, vinegar, salt and sugar to taste.
  5. Cut the seafood sticks in half and fry for a couple of minutes. Add soy sauce.
  6. Blanche the spinach in boiling water for a couple of seconds. Remove from water and mix with soy sauce, garlic and sesame oil.
  7. Beat the egg and make an omelette in the frying pan. When cooked cut into strips the same size as the seaweed.
  8. Lay your seaweed sheet on the sushi mat. Add some of the rice along the length of the sheet about three quarters of the way down the sheet. Layer some of your other ingredients on top of the rice, don’t use too much or it will be difficult to roll.
  9. Carefully roll the seaweed sheet wetting the edge slightly so it will stick. Wrap the sushi mat around the seaweed roll and roll it firmly in your hands. Remove from the mat and using a sharp knife slice the roll into equal segments.
